A UK trio that play sweet and yet raw indie-power-pop music, quite powerful tunes with the twist of twee. Well it’s hard to define, but surely it’s such an ear candy. try them yourself.
Tell us more about the music scene in London.
London is an incredibly exciting and vibrant centre for live music, there’s so much going on it that it often takes a bit of rummaging to find real musical prizes, but plenty of fun searching in the meantime. We’re having a very good time.
Band background
Rhydian and Ritzy grew up together in rural North Wales, both kindred spirits and musical allies. Chance meeting with Justin (drums) and The Joy Formidable was born.
What is your current activities?
Preparing for the single which is due out in July through Another Music = Another Kitchen. Playing dates across the UK for the Skins Live Party Tour, and festival appearances lined up for the summer.
Music in one sentence?
I never like summing anything up in one sentence!
Any great plans with the band?
So many plans – we’re launching our own club night this summer, got some fantastic headliners lined up, and excited to use it as a way of debuting our artwork and remixes..
5 songs on our playlist ….
Half Tiger – Sooner or Later (fucking cool!)
Micah P Hinson – The day Texas sank to the bottom of the sea
Daftpunk – Da Funk
Miracle Fortess – Have you seen in your dreams
LCD Soundsystem – Watch the tapes
Do you know any underated band you can recommend us?
Not sure if their underrated, just undiscovered because they haven’t played live yet..but Half Tiger are really hitting the spot.. and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs..big talent.
