Saya harus berterus terang kalau saya menyukai album ini, setelah sebelumnya kecewa bukan kepalang dengan album “Brandalism” yang lebih mirip band rock tanpa energi. Album DGNR8 ini adalah evolusi musik band kesukaan saya ini yang dipicu oleh masuknya dua personel baru, dan simbiosis mutualisme dengan produser Joseph Saryuf aka Iyub dari Sinjitos Records.

Musik mereka tetap rock n’roll yang kasar, kotor dan ber-attitude, hanya saja kali ini ditambah efek psikedelia dan layer-layer suara bertumpuk-tumpuk plus aransemen yang cenderung lebih rumit yang akan lansung mengingatkan musik mereka kali ini pada Primal Scream.

Bukan hanya pada musik, tetapi juga pada rebranding BRNDLS dan judul album DGNR8 yang juga mengingatkan pada PRMLSCRM dan XTRMNTR, yang untungnya didukung oleh aransemen mumpuni dan produksi yang asoi sehingga malah memberikan pujian pada album ini.

Favorit saya pada saat Morgue Vanguard dari Homicide turut memuntahkan kata-kata pada lagu Abrasi, dan lagu Perak yang membuat saya bangga tanpa alasan jelas; mungkin karena lagu ini beat nya asik dan berbahasa Indonesia yang terasa pas dengan beat dan rasa-rasanya meneriakkan “… tajam berkilau menusuk jantungmu…”

Secara garis besar, walaupun ini berasa banget Primal Scream nya (minus logat a’la England), tapi it’s OK karena mereka melakukannya dengan baik.

Luky Annash adalah anak ke-3 dari 3 bersaudara. Kedua kakaknya, Eka dan Rully Annash telah terlebih dahulu dikenal melalui sebuah grup musik beraliran rock bernama The Brandals. Luky mulai bermain piano semenjak umur 12 tahun dan mulai menyalurkan bakatnya pada tengah tahun 2005 sebagai additional keyboardist untuk beberapa grup musik seperti The Brandals, godsmustbecrazy dan seorang biduanita eksentrik bernama Tika.

Musik dan performa panggung Luky Annash dapat mengejutkan, melankolis, humoris dan juga provokatif. Emosi yang dialirkan melalui musiknya begitu kuat hingga diakui oleh sebuah majalah franchise dari London, Time Out Jakarta, “something that the audience can almost touch”. Fleksibilitas musik Luky Annash memberikan warna musik yang begitu beragam dan bahkan dapat menjadi kontras antara satu dengan yang lainnya, namun tetap mengedepankan peranan piano sebagai instrumen utama.

JUXTAPIANOS RECORD akan merilis internet single pertama Luky Annash yang berjudul “Bajingan Ibukota” untuk pengunduhan gratis. Lagu ini akan menjadi pembuka ragamnya karakter musik Luky Annash yang akan segera terkemas dan dirilis awal tahun depan dalam sebuah album musik bertajuk 180°.

Bajingan ibukota adalah sebuah karakterisasi yang mencoba untuk survive di tengah-tengah ancaman kehidupan. Karakter ini terlihat dari sisi perspektif seseorang yang mencoba untuk mempertahankan sisi defensif-nya dengan menggunakan logika sebagai media untuk menyalurkan emosi yang terpendam.

Sinjitos Records kembali merilis free downloadable internet single dari salah satu band yang berada di dalam roster mereka yakni BRNDLS dengan lagu “Start Bleeding”. Lagu ini menjadi teaser dari perubahan musikal yang terjadi di album ke empat mereka “DGNR8” yang rencananya akan dirilis pada bulan Januari 2011 di bawah naungan Sinjitos Records.
Perubahan warna musik yang terjadi di album “DGNR8” ini dipicu oleh bergabungnya dua personil baru (Gitaris PM dan Bassist Radit) ke dalam formasi terkini dari BRNDLS. Terlibatnya produser Joseph Saryuf dalam proses aransemen musik dan tata suara dalam album ini pun berhasil membawa angin segar dalam evolusi musik BRNDLS.

Lagu ‘Start Bleeding’ sendiri merupakan bentuk dokumentasi dari kondisi bangsa Indonesia yang saat ini sedang terpuruk secara moral akibat pertikaian politik dari pihak–pihak yang rakus, egois dan haus darah. Konflik–konflik yang belakangan ini terjadi hanya akan membawa hasil akhir yang mengenaskan, menuju kehancuran kolateral dan mutilasi moral. Hingga tiada lagi itikad untuk memajukan dan mempersatukan bangsa ini dengan semangat yang konstruktif.
