They just release a conceptual album with a breakthrough marketing strategy on a pizza box. With a humble personality and cinematic appearance, their album are well received by Indonesian independent music scene. As now ZATPP approaching a wider audiences with their video on televisions.
Here is a brief interview with Zeke the frontman.
How are you today?
Z: A-Ok sir Eric
A lot of people appraised your music while still criticize your vocal. how do you react about this problems?
Z: yeah i get that a lot. especially when performing in gigs. it doesn’t shake my confidence though coz i specialized in writing lyrics. i guess I can always use the excuse ‘beauty lies in its imperfection’ (in regards to the vocal).. :)
I’m impressed with your cinematic concepts in the song. Tell me more about how do you interpret the concept in the music?
Z: The last three songs i wrote, hope killer, menu and subtext are all film based music. I fell in love with the concept of cinema watching. You put together 50 or more people in a dark room and they are willingly see, hear and feel whatever the film maker put up there.I was hoping we can do the same thing to zatpp’s listeners. In the beginnning of hope killer
we want to create an effect of a man being chased on foot by a an angry mob represent by the pounding bass and the fast paced beat. the lyrics provide the explanation of the story.. “when he sees the police appear, he starts to behave so strangely and he attracts suspicion..”. that sort of thing I hope can affect zatpp’s listeners.
What is your top 5 songs on the playlist this month?
Z: 1. There She Goes - Babyshambles
2. Jacqueline - the Coral
3. Yer Blues - the Beatles
4. The Sun Shines Down On Me - Daniel Johnston
5. Lush Life - John Coltrane
The best music purchase this month?
the Coral -Roots and Echoes
What is your version of the best record releases this year?
Has to be Shotter’s Nation -Babyshambles.. cant imagine how the other half of libertines going to top this one..
Last word?
Cheers sir Eric, we appericiate you constructive-criticism
