The Entrapments of Lifestyle Media

A man is not just a man.
That's what some media try to sell us these days, mostly lifestyle and
fashion media. A man is now defined by his habits, what he wears, and
how he wears it. If I don't care too much about what I wear and spends
as little time and money as possible on my appearance and lifestyle, I
would count as a Retro sexual.
If I do the opposite, which is having a strong aesthetic sense and
spends a great amount of time and money on my appearance and lifestyle,
that would make me a Metro sexual.
But if I am "refined", but contains more of an implication of
confidence and traditional notions of manhood than the former term,
that makes me an Ubersexual.

media defines what kind of men we are? so we can be easily categorized
like supermarket items and put into its defined shelves? Read Full Post..
