The Secret Love Parade is a dutch indie pop band, that play a simple and decent melody about everything. And here a brief interview with the beautiful indie-pop trio.

Please tell us more about your band
Aino and Janna started making music together when they were about fifteen, This summer(2007) Lara, Janna’s sister, joined the group, playing both bass and flute, Janna switched from bass to guitar, Aino learned to play the organ (among other things, though she could already sing), and we finally added some beats, to make the band complete.

The secret love parade is the result of a pretty long way of musical (and personal) development. We don’t really know why we don’t sound like the music that influences us. It’s a dreamy and sweeter variation of a lot of things. Its not that we necessarily only want to make sweet and dreamy things, but this is what comes out when we play, so you can say its close to the heart. We are influenced not only by the Beatles, but also by books, movies, in a general sense a broadening of knowledge of the beauty (and ugliness) in the world.

Share us some stories about the Dutch indie scene please.
Well, then what do you do in Holland, when you are three girls that want to make music, preferably for a lot of people? You join the indie-scene! What indiepop scene? Where’s the door? People are doors in this scene that’s mainly located around Amsterdam. I think it’s a rule that goes for every music scene: to join it, you’ll have to know people, and you’ll have to be assrtive enough to use them as doors. Or be incredibly lucky.

But you can’t count on that, so our future plans are to play a lot of gigs in Holland, and beyond. We are just getting started. We’ll explore the scene like a jungle, armed with a great album that should be out this year, and in the same time explore musice like a mountain. There will be a lot of hiking to do, but eventually we have to get somewehere.

thewispyhummers Here what we found on myspace, a drunk voiced young girl that play guitar all by herself, a female version of Oberst but with a little bit more offpitched vocal. But her decent and heartfelt voice takes our heart even when we aren’t drunk. So we ask her some questions about her project The Wispy Hummers

Tell us more about your band’s background

Well, The Wispy Hummers really started as a way to pass the time for me (Joan J.L) while I think about what to do with my life after graduating high school. So one day in my monotonous existence, I was listening to Bob Dylan, and I thought to myself, well I could do that, and I just started writing songs from there I guess. After about six months, I had written a couple dozens songs and was pretty confused about what to do with them so before I start forgetting them one by one, I decided to record them on my computer. I put them up on myspace just because that seems like the hip thing to do and here we are.

Any future plan for The Wispy Hummers?
I am currently trying to put together a proper band because I personally can only play the guitar (not very well, I might add) and shows has been a little tedious. When that happens, I’d probably like to properly record the songs and hopefully release them in the near future. But for now, I’ll keep writing songs and playing as much shows as possible really.

If you had to describe about your music, what would that be?
I generally dislike it when people ask me what type/genre of music do I play, I prefer it when people judge that for themselves, but if I have to say I’d probably say folk pop, or along that line. The biggest influence, I would have to say is Bob Dylan, just because he is truly the coolest person ever, I think. Others would include Leonard Cohen, Jeff Buckley, Elliot Smith, Hank Williams, Nick Drake, Joni Mitchell, Wilco and just people in general, everyday folks, I think influenced my songwriting the most.

Sedikit perkenalan lebih lanjut dengan Fiddlers :
Well, band ini terbentuk pada akhir tahun 2005, Diawali dengan rasa ketidak puasan terhadap band-band terdahulunya, ketiga anak muda yang berasal dari 2 buah band yang berbeda memutuskan untuk membuat sebuah band baru yang lebih baik dari band sebelumnya, akhirnya terbentuklah sebuah band dengan nama FIDDLERS. Untuk meramaikan belantika musik Indonesia
yang cendrung monoton, FIDDLERS pun mencoba untuk membuat konsep baru yang lebih baik dengan mengusung aliran musik “TEENAGE MELODIC” yang bertemakan tentang harapan, depresi, konflik, cinta dan semua masalah yang cendrung dialami oleh anak muda jaman sekarang.

Fiddlers yang berarti Pemain Biola melambangkan ciri khas musik dari Fiddlers yang mempunyai karakter yang kuat. Masing – masing lagu yang telah kami ciptakan mempunyai filosofi yang berasal dari our experience.

Dengan paduan khas PUNK yang kental dengan pengaruh FEEL lainnya menjadikan musik yang Keras namun dibalut dengan lirik berisi cinta, ambisi sakit hati dan sebuah harapan akan menambah kesan Teenage Melodic yang sangat kental.

Singer songwriter bernama [rendyasradahnial] yang banyak terpengaruh oleh Radiohead, Rufus Wainwright sampai ke Wilco ataupun Ron Sexsmith, mengerjakan sebagian besar lagunya di komputer pribadinya. [rendyasradahnial], awalnya bernama The Get Up. Itu juga nama pemberian seorang teman. Karena waktu itu saya masih awam akan musik-musik luar negeri kecuali Radiohead, Greenday dan Travis. Saya gak pernah sadar kalau ada band luar bernama hampir sama dengan The Get Up, yaitu The Get Up Kids! Crap! Bahkan yang memberitahu saya kalau ada band luar bernama serupa tapi nyaris sama itu orang yang memberi nama The Get Up pada saya. But thanks to him, that’s where everything started.

Tentang influence, Radiohead ambil bagian terbesar. Yang lainnya mungkin Rufus Wainwright [ dia juga alasan saya mengapa memilih nama sendiri dibanding tetap dengan The Get Up !], Lorien, Embrace dan Psikopat.

Introuducing you our friends from Brazil, that play a catchy electro rock, well some people said that it is an electroclash, but whatever it is, they’re pretty good to made us dance here. try to hear their sounds and maybe you can dance with us too.

how are ou now ?
We played at the biggest rock and eletro-rock festivals in Brazil and we..re going to SXSW (Austin - Texas) in March and maybe to France in April. In November, we..ve been in Portugal and I confess - I loved and I almost forgot to come back.

if you’ve been asked to mention five words that would best associated to your musics, what would that be?

a girl + a boy and a MP3 player.

How is the music scene in Brazil nowadays?

It..s very diverse and a little bit complex. we have all kind of sounds. Brazil is big enough but here we have too much forro, axe, samba and MPB. It..s bizarre! The people community that really likes rock is not too much and it makes this kind of sound not profitable and the bands not so professional.

Here a brief introduction about them (as taken from their myspace)

“The Fable (or the Farse?) of Two Electropandas”

They met at kindergarten, shared delicious sweets and a weird taste for non sense. Later on, they became a cute-mid-height couple with great musical and esthetic affinity. They tried some bad succeeded rides through rock and then decided to exterminate drummer players at their group. All of a sudden, something pretty extraordinary happened: they received super powers from an electronic drum kit, Lucy, and became Popsonics. Followed by that, in a very strange experience at the backyard of the studio, it happened an exotic visit from other space genre, also a couple, Eletropandas. This couple got Fernanda and Pil Popsonic contaminated by a never seen fable, in which pleasure is the top command, pose and feelgood aspects of life are the destiny. They don’t know so far whether it’s a dream or a real fable. Would it be a farse? The effects of this meeting between Popsonics and Eletropandas resulted in “A Fábula (ou a Farsa?) de Dois Eletropandas” [The Fable (or the Farse?) of Two Electropandas], Lucy and The Popsonics’ debut album.

Pee Wee Gaskins originally began as a solo project for Guitarist/vocalist/midget rapist Dochi Sadega on Ihcod Agedas. After swelling to a full line up, we searched the internet for a new band name that illustrates our musical personalities. And then we eventually tag the words ’serial killer’ to the search engine. we found ‘Donald Pee Wee Gaskins’ and the rest.. as they say.. was history.
Pee Wee Gaskins creates a uniquely infectious blend of guitar-mangled, multy layered, melodic rock and catchy synthesizer melodies reminiscent of early the get up kids fused with fall out boy, which cases our effusive pop punk influenced sound.
At the moment, us five-piece is currently recording to make ready our self-produced album, titled “GO!”.

Metal may be getting heavier as time goes on, but somehow many will ever scrape the ceiling of human extremity the way SALIENT INSANITY do.

SALIENT INSANITY terbentuk pertengahan September 2005, dengan formasi xEricx (gitar), Roni (drum), Venus (vokal), dan xEl Veganox (gitar). Pada awalnya, SALIENT INSANITY sempat kesulitan mencari seorang pemain bass. Beberapa orang telah dicoba tapi hasilnya kurang memuaskan. Akhirnya mereka bertemu dengan Bonar, yang juga merupakan pemain bass band pop, NEWDAYS. Awal tahun 2006 Roni (drum) keluar dari band karena bekerja di luar kota, dan posisi drummer diisi oleh Suryo, yang juga merupakan drummer HANDS UPON SALVATION (metalcore) serta MORNING HORNY (melodicpunk).

Masing-masing personil SALIENT INSANITY mempunyai influence yang berbeda-beda, tetapi secara umum beberapa influence secara umumnya antara lain adalah THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, AT THE GATES, ARCH ENEMY, FRAGMENT OF UNBECOMING, SKYWARDS, EMPEROR, WINTERSUN, HIMSA, xPURIFICATIONx, LAMB OF GOD, HATEBREED, hingga Bjork.

Secara musikal, band ini mempunyai ciri sound yang tidak jauh dari THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER dan AT THE GATES. SALIENT INSANITY baru saja mengeluarkan EP yang berjudul “From Horror to Sorrow”, berisi 5 lagu melodicmetal agresif yang siap menyayat kuping audiens! Mini album tersebut dirilis dan didistribusikan oleh manajemen SALIENT INSANITY sendiri dibawah bendera Insanity Records.

Hingga kini SALIENT INSANITY masih rutin latihan, manggung, dan menciptakan lagu-lagu baru untuk materi full length album yang akan dirilis awal tahun 2008.

Terbentuk pada 14 February 2006 dengan melihat dan merasa rindu akan sound-sound yang sangat lampu dengan menemukan beberapa games machine dari sebuah gudang tua di suatu rumah yaitu Game Boy suatu alat permainan yang mengingatkan kita akan masa-masa kejayaan super Mario bros dan Donkey Kong.

Local drug store mempunyai arti yang sedikit menyimpang dari arti yang ada, Local drug store di artikan sebagai “toko jamu” agar lebih elegan maka di kamuflasekan dengan nama Local drug store.

Musik yang di usung Local drug store adalah chip-tune music/8bit music, dengan menggunakan beberapa toys machines seperti gameboy, Nintendo, mini casio, serta beberapa software untuk mencipkan nada-nada yang funny & groovy.

Local drug store menciptakan suara-suara murni dari sound permainan dan computer jaman dulu seperti commodore. Alat yang di gunakan dalam membentuk sound tersebut dengan menggunakan game boy yang berisikan cartridge bernama LSDJ (little sound DJ) dengan penggabungan dari beberapa software seperti nano voice, synthcart, dan beberapa emulator software video games.

Introduce you Discrete Encounter a threepiece rock electronica bands from New York City, here’s an interview with Taras, Natasha and Stas as written by Natasha

How are you now?

We’re doing pretty well, thank you! At the moment we’re preoccupied with all the preparations for the upcoming release of our new album that is due in January 2008. Last touches to the mix, mastering, cover work, etc. And of course, plenty of holiday parties!

Tell us more about your upcoming CDs?

The album is called “2B1″. It is somewhat different from previous DE’s recordings, especially in terms of sound. For the first time we have guitar as a leading instrument and so there’s a constant dialog between lead vocal and guitar solos.

The main outline connecting all songs is that of integration. It’s about never-ending struggle “To be me, to be you, to be one” (2B1), to find your own path, even though “All roads lead to Rome” (Distant Star).

Some songs were inspired by human relationships, especially difficulty connecting and a great sadness associated with the lack of understanding - “I came to the door, it wasn’t me“ (Pleasure and Pain). While others speak in a more philosophical, metaphorical language.

Would you mind share us, about how the electronic music scene goes in NYC?

Mostly we are familiar with the techno scene, particularly minimal techno that is a part of an underground scene in NY. There are many promoters in the city, and from time to time we get to meet very talented DJs and producers from all over the world. Though not yet mainstream, these parties do attract decent crowds of people.
