Hikayat bercerita tentang sebuah zaman yang indah di Inggris pada tahun 1960-an saat band-band seperti The Who atau Small Faces, The Kinks menjadi idola anak-anak muda berdandanan rapi yang disebut Mod, yang menganggap musik band-band tersebut sebagai sesuatu yang sangat modern dan keren.

Banyak dari kita yang sudah tahu bahwa band ini akan berada di Asia Tenggara di bulan November. Dan petisi online yang dibuat oleh Wendy Putranto berhasil membangun awareness para e.o. dan penggemar Manic Street Preachers, sehingga walaupun sudah mepet tapi Java Musikindo mengontak mereka untuk bermain di Jakarta pada tanggal 2 Desember 2008, tetapi karena beberapa permasalahan seperti venue, hujan, dan dua orang kru yang tidak ingin diperpanjang kontraknya. Tampaknya bakal gagal nih mereka manggung disini.
Tapi belum terlambat… coba deh klik myspace.com/manics . kalo udah temenan kamu bisa tuliskan pesan supaya mereka mau dateng ke Jakarta tgl 2 Desember. Kalo belum, add mereka lalu tuliskan pesan ” PLEASE COME TO INDONESIA” … mungkin kalo ada 3000 pesan seperti itu, mereka akan luluh juga. This is a brilliant release by Malaysian indie-shogaze-post-rock band, you’ll listen to guitar layers and soundscapes that inspired by MBV’s, you’ll found emotional and aggresives distortion like My Vitriol and subtle hook that coming from Slint or Mogwai. And surely sure it wouldn’t bring you summer sunshine, but an imploding depression.
These guys are great – by saying greats here, it doesn’t mean that I would switch my CD player from My Vitriol to Witherspoon, they play on a significantly different league – but by far as I concern, they could be considered as good if you take South East Asian band in the same genre.
As long as they keep in progress and polished their talents, I think Witherspoon can be a real great band with strong characters.
